Wow, the cost to fix it seems excessively high. What type of problem are you having? I really don't like the shock collars, and it seems like for those who do want to use them, they should only be used as a training aid, not continually for the rest of the dog's life. If you have been using this for several years and he still needs to wear the collar to behave, I would say he's not learning the right things. Have you thought of consulting with a dog trainer? I don't mean to be criticizing you, I understand that you need some behavior changed, but I think I would look for something that's more effective, and humane. Studies do show that overly aversive punishment can lead to other disturbing behaviors. While shock isn't considered extremely painful, I think it falls under the category of extremely aversive. I mean would you want to get shocked in order to manipulate your behavior? Perhaps posting a thread in the training forum might lead you to better choices. |
