Here in Florida it is required that all puppys sold come with a Vet's Health Certificate. It tells all of the vaccines and wormings the puppy has had as well as an overall certification of healthiness. All of my puppies are wormed twice before going anywhere. I have never seen a worm in any of my dogs and questioned whether I really needed to do that. But the vet assured me it was required if he were to sign the Health Certificate.
I would most definately pay the bill if any of my pups showed up with worms -- then I would recoop from my vet as he would have wormed them. I know I could do it myself, but by having the vet do it, everything is in the record.
The hair breakage is still a problem too. I don't know if it is from a possible flea problem or not. If the bites were that numerous of fire ant bites, I would not have let the poor thing travel anyway. They can be a bit toxic to little puppies. Did she have them outside? Fire ants normally do not go inside like other ants.
The problem the vet identified of her not being active and thinking she had not been given attention needed to develop relationships is a big concern as well. Second after health comes personality. Luckily, since you bought her as a puppy, you can turn that around with some nurturing, loving attention. I am not sure how the vet can be sre, but if he is right, it sound liked ignored puppies. I can't understand how that can even happen. I have to caution myself about handling them too much in the early days.
Just the problem with customer service, calling you a liar instead of being there for you, is a bad sign for a breeder. Even if she thought she had done nothing wrong, she should have been reassuring, and seeing how she could be of help instead of trying to fight. I am ready to take care of any problem that arises from my pups. So far, I have never had any problems to sort out. But I don't think any responsile breeder would hesitate to pay the vet bills of something that showed up the first day! Did this breeder not giv you any sort of health guarantee? Of course, I have seen many health guarantees that were not worth the paper they were written on. So many just say to replace the puppy in health situations. Who wants to hand back a puppy they have already grown to love or even just met and wants to ensure they are safe? Be careful of those guarantees!
I am just happy to hear you bonded immediately and are there to give this little one all of the loving attention it needs! | |
