Yorkies are just the opposite. They usually mat more with their puppy coat. As long as their adult hair comes in silky, it usually will not mat nearly as bad as that fine puppy hair. I have a 5 month old puppy right now that is matting a lot daily under his legs, sort of in the pits. He is not happy with the brush right now. I wish it was easier when they were puppies, so they would not get to hating the brush each night. I have to hide it in my hand and then he hops in my lap -- surprise! I also call this his rag-a-muffin stage.
