As for the Frontline, I don't think my dog, Rigby, could use it for awhile. I am thinking he was 15 weeks before he could use it. I don't even use any of the topical anti-flea treatments anymore at all because now they make a pill. I think it's so much more effective & he doesn't have to walk around with a greasy spot anymore!
Not sure about what the ages are for the flea pill, but I would ask the vet.
