First of all the standard does not say 4-7 lbs. It says not to exceed 7 pounds. However, if one is too small or oversized, it is a fault not a disqualification.

There is no perfect dog: The standard is there as a guideline for what a breeder is striving for. The standard is primarily used for show dogs.

Remember litters are registered as very young pups and most are born black with tan markings.....and a yorkie does not reach maturity until approximately 2 years of age.....
