No, you don't "have to." Inbreeding should NEVER be done and line breeding should only be something done by VERY EXPERIENCED and breeders with a superior knowledge of canine genetics. Linebreeding is merely an option, not something absolutely neccessary for any and every breeding program. In many cases, it's an "easy way out" for smaller, BYBs who really have no clue what they are doing.
Anytime someone asks about linebreeding, the question that comes to mind is, what are you trying to achieve that you believe only linebreeding will accomplish. If you don't have an answer for that, then it's not something that should even be crossing your mind.
