I worked for a vet who raises yorkies. One was about 3.2 when she was spayed, the other was only 2.8lb or so--both did very well. The 3.2lber was almost a year old and she was in alot of pain afterwards. The other was about 6-7 months old, and I was worried she was going to go into heat--so she went ahead and did it--she rebounded very quickly, didn't seem like she hurt like the other one did. I would talk to your vet, some prefer to wait until a certain weight. Just make sure you do bloodwork and have an IV cath w/fluids the whole time the baby is under--it keeps the kidneys flushed and helps get the anesthetic out of their system faster.
