If you need to force feed/sryinge feed use Royal Canin Recovery Diet. It contains lots of water and is mushy so can be easily sryinge-fed and keeps them from getting dehydrated. Suggestions are that she have a full cbc and bile acid test to rule out other issues, and that she is sryinge-fed. Medication-wise she may need something like metoclopramide to keep her from getting reflux and vomiting the food, and/or something like metronidazole to calm her stomach and clear up her stool. This is not normal, even for a young or very small puppy. Puppies naturally have an appetite and although small babies have high metabolism and can easily get hypoglycemic, this can easily be prevented and the puppy should not be vomiting. | They ran a before and after bile tests and blood tests, did xrays. AT first they thought it was mega esophagus then they thought liver shunt. They did think once that it was reflux and told me to get a elevated food dish, which I did that too. I am so stressed they have been trying to figure out what is wrong with her for 3 months now and I have not slept good since because I want to make sure my baby is ok so I have to sleep very lightly in case she starts to get sick or shakes from her sugar dropping. I dont want my baby to die or continue to be sick, it is killing me and I am sure it is weakening her organs. |
