Jackson always chased and barks at the cats at my dad's house (where we visit 3-4 days a week). He's just now to the point where he doesn't really care about them anymore, he's 10 months old. He actually was laying with the boy cat the other day, whom he never got along with. The cats were here first though so I dunno if that makes a difference. When the kitten gets a bit older, I would just let them be loose together, they should learn to get along or at least tolerate each other. Cats are smart, just make sure they have somewhere to jump, even if it's a counter or something, to get away from the dog. Whenever the dogs over at my dad's place start to chase the cats, the cats run or jump up high where they can't get them.
