You could try putting the kitten in a room with the door closed. If there is a space under the door Emmett can sniff & in time adjust to the kitten's odor. Also, try getting the kitten's odor on a blanket, towel, etc., & let Emmett smell it. Might even make it part of Emmett's bed. This would be Step 1.
