If Max is most bonded with you & not the one being growled at, I would recommend that you immediately put him on the floor. Repeat as often as it takes. This is something that you will not tolerate & your reaction needs to be instant. Very important! Max needs to know that behavior will not be tolerated. Next step will be biting & even harder to get control of.
Remember Cesar's show about Bandit the Chi & the mom coddled him while he attacked her son over & over. It was the Mom's responsibility to take action. Then the show about the maltese (I think) belonging to an older couple where the man coddled the dog while he repeatedly attacked his wife for a long time. It was the man who needed to take action.
If you spoil & coddle Max & he has no rules, stop doing that. You'll end up with a vicious little Max. There is a difference between being strict & being mean. Good luck! |
