Duke was neutered and chip the same time, so he was 'sleeping' for both so I'm not sure what would need to happen if both are done separately.
I think it would be easier on your pup to get both done at the same time and for recovery too but if the cost is a big factor, which I completely understand, then speak to the vets first or see what others on YT would say.
