"I found the breeder in the classifieds and she's APRI registered not AKC and these are most likely backyard breeders." they probably are considered that by those of you that don't think family raised puppies are good enough for us simple folk who only want pets not show dogs.
"MAJOR RED FLAG, they said they take the mom away at 6 weeks old!! I have just asked them why they would do something like that??" they didn't do this with her, so i'm not that worried about it, plus they've had NO problems with puppies using this method and they only take the mom out if the pups are doing well and eating completely on their own, it's a case to case basis and the mom is still out playing with her pups in the yard most of the time, in fact as far as i know they haven't removed Sadie's mom from her playtime, just away from her feeding time.
"They probably are a backyard breeder, i'm ok with that part." i will stand by this one, i am ok that they are not AKC and that they are not selling puppies for over 1000 dollars, that type of breeder is just unreasonable and ridiculous to expect a person who simply wants a pet to pay that kind of money for a DOG!! We didn't pay that much for our wedding rings people and this is a dog, a family pet, shouldn't cost anything to have a puppy IMO, it should be something you can get at anytime for free because someone has a litter and wants to share the joy around to nice families, i can't believe that some people charge those ridiculous prices and make all that money off of poor families who just wanted a family pet, it's sick!!
"They wean at 5.5 weeks by starting to take the mom away for 1/2 a day and feeding the pups crushed puppy food Diamond brand. If the pup takes to it, they will take the mom away at 6 weeks. If the pup takes to it, they will take the mom away at 6 weeks. They have kennels for the moms and when they are about 3 weeks away from having pups they move them to a birthing center set up in the garage and keep them nearby to birth babies, the pups grow some and are eventually moved as a family to an ex pen with rugs and beds and toys and potty pads and food until they begin to wean them. Mom goes back out to the kennels and the pups stay inside until they can be brought to their new owners." all the vets and people i've talked to around here say that's a very COMMON and reasonable practice sorry we're from Missouri and we are quite simple in nature and don't have these giant diamond studded facilities like some of you think we should
She types this, then in the next breath types how wonderful they are? | Everything you have quoted me at saying was before actually meeting these people and getting to know them, their references, and their personalities and even some of their puppies. i was a little concerned due to the overwhelmingly hateful and scary ways in which people on YT attacked my threads, but i am 100% confident in my breeder having met him, and i am no longer confident in about 95% of Ytalkers due to the harsh way in which they relay their advice and opinions. if you had been kinder and had better reasons or facts, i might have been more swayed, but i'm looking at ALL the information i have here and if you knew me at all you would see that i'm the one making this choice and i've made the best darn choice for me and my situation that i could have possibly made!!! |
