| Throwing up Blood I have a 10 month old male Yorkie named Sammy and he woke up this morning (3AM) throwing up a little bit of blood. On Saturday (4 days ago) he swallowed a furniture staple shaped like “[“ and he didn’t poop it back out until 48 hrs later. I was told from my nurse to feed him bread and rice to pack his digestive system so it wouldn’t puncture anything. Throughout that time, I was paying very close attention to all of his stool and he didn’t poop out any blood (which I thought was a good sign) other than the staple wrapped in fuzzy things found probably from his shredding fur off his furry toys. Anyways, since Monday (2 days ago) I’ve been switching Sammy back to his regular diet and I believe he’s just fed up and decides to just sniff it and walk away without eating it – which in this case is Wellness Puppy dry kibbles mixed with Wellness Chicken/Turkey & Sweet Potato Formula canned wet food. We’ve been feeding this to him for a good 5 months already and noticed he’s already kind of sick of it. To entice him to eat, every now and then we’d even boil regular chicken breast and throw it in the mix. Since then he’s been throwing up a couple of times. The first time was straight up foam, which I believe is normal from not eating as I have read Yorkie’s have a strong acid problem if they don’t eat on time. Sammy would throw up in the middle of playing, while he chews on things. Then finally tonight (3AM Wednesday), he finally threw up a little bit of blood. Now that got me a little concern because I am not sure if that’s normal or could Sammy possibly has internal bleeding (maybe from the staple incident?) I know I will be paying attention to next throw up (if he does again) to make sure there’s no more blood, but do anybody know if it’s normal from simply not eating? It seems like I’m stuck in a dilemma with the eating part, Sammy hasn’t been eating since Monday and I know he’s only throwing up because he’s gotten too picky and bored of his food. He’d eat boiled chicken breast and treats straight up, but not his dry food, not even when it’s mixed with wet food anymore. What should I do? I know some will recommend me to switch up his food to another brand, but from what I’ve found in research, Wellness is the only brand I trust with none by-products and etc. Do I keep feeding Sammy the same food and take it away after 20 mins of not touching the food? I was told that’s how to train a dog to eat; because I’m sure he will eventually eat when he gets to the point where he’s too hungry – but at what cost? Will I have to watch my Yorkie suffers from throwing up in the meantime? Or is there a better way? Other than that, he’s still a pretty playful and active little boy. Please Advice. Thanks!
