How did you decide on this trainer? Did you interview several? Does he have qualifications, etc.
I went to 3 trainers in total. This guy was the only one that didn't charge by the hour, which I really liked. He says it is pointless to just cut a dog off after a set period of time. He also doesn't do a set number of sessions. He will work with you until your dog is trained all for one set price. He was also the only one that insisted on doing the training in my home. He seems to be a little "old school" in his ways, which I like. It's kinda like how most parents nowadays are easier on their kids and our parents (not sure how old you are) were tough on us and we earned our respect. He also doesn't take just anyone. He is very picky about who he takes on for a client becuase he wants to makes sure that he can actually help them. He is retired and doesn't do this for money but for dogs' sake. After a dog "graduates" from his class he also will "board" them in his own home and treat them like they live there rather than putting them in a kennel, just in case I can't find someone to watch my little stinker. Some of the sessions are at his place with his "pack dogs". Maddie met some of them today so he could see how his "pack dogs" reacted to her. They are super sweet and super obidient, yet super happy dogs. He showed me his training manual and it lays out what to do with your dog for an entire year. Each day of the dog's life has something planned specfically for the dog's age. His manual was AWESOME. I wish he would publish it.

Like I said before, I am very excited but also very nervous. I am one of those moms that doesn't like to be away from my baby girl for a minute and feel guilty when I need to just run to Walmart or something. It is going to be tough, but I know it will pay off in the long run. I will let you guys know how it goes Friday!
