I Tie the umbilical cord as closed to the puppy's as possible, really on the "stub', then i use another piece of unwaxed dental floss and do another tie about an inch apart from the first, then i cut with an old scissors that is not sharp. The second tie is not really needed but i do it anyways, i do not like to see all that blood coming from the placenta.
Remember that everything needs to be very clean, scissors sterilized.
As soon as you cut the cord, dip it on IODINE to prevent infection and to make it dry faster ...
Very easy , do not be scared, you can do it and you do not even need to by hemostats if you have a good pair of tiny dull scissors that you can use !!!

Good luck with your babies !!!!!!!

XOXO
