Sounds like he's doing well. grazing is fine as long as he's not over eating. Mine grazes all throughout the day and she's done it for years now. I give her a set amount in the morning and done refill her bowl until the next day. As a puppy through i'd give her half that amount in the morning and she'd graze on that throughout the day, then i'd give her the other half at dinner time which she would graze on that evening and in the middle of the night.
