The best way is by word of mouth. However, many people do not have that option. The other option is to see what is available in your area and start calling and asking questions. Like, if they have experience training small dogs. When I've started in agility, many instructor had only experience in more larger dogs like a border collie and very little with small dog like a yorkie. Having trained both, I can tell you there is a big difference in the way I train and handle these dogs.
