Hi and welcome! If your child is gentle, I see no reason why it would be an issue. A smaller yorkie may need some careful watching as they they tend to be a bit more fragile but they learn to get of the way quickly. When we first got Hot Rod, I kicked him several times as he was right on my heels constantly...since then he's learned and I've learned to be more cautious. So you don't have to be a little one to learn to be cautious.
