As for the children thing, just teach your child to be gentle and socialize the pup well with kids! I would also aim to get a larger Yorkie... more in the 6 pound or more range. They're more "durable".

Jackson adores the children he is familiar with. He likes other kids too but is more cautious about letting them pet him and sometimes he gets shy and backs away, and he's a 14lb Yorkie, lol. However, the few kids that he sees on an almost daily basis, he jumps up to greet, gives kisses, and allows a 1 1/2 year old to do literally anything to him lol. H
