My girl right now has a min pin coat not the fluffy puppy coat that you see most yorkie pups have. It is starting to grow out a little and I know she will have a regular yorkie coat when she matures. I want to know because her father has a reccesive short hair gean will she carry that on to her pups??
Puppies that are going to have a thin silky coat will still look pretty slick at 8 weeks but the coat should be about a 1/2 inch long. Yorkies with silk coats sometimes have slow growing coats Their is no way of knowing if your female will throw pups with her type of coat because you don't know how the combination of genes between the sire and the dam will react. Is your puppy the normal black and tan color? Did you see your puppies sire and dam? The only type of yorkies I heard of that have coats that won't grow are the yorkies with the 'blue' gene and those should not be bred.
