But, you're right, I've heard of people taking their dogs in to have puppy teeth removed and the vet has removed their adult teeth. Or taken them in for teeth cleaning and have lost their dog on the table.
When I took my first litter for tail docking, I show the vet where I want the tail to be cut touching the the tail and telling him "right here".

So I got the 4 puppies back with almost no tail at all!!! Like a Rottweiler tail!

That is when i also found out that most vet have no clue about the proper tail length of each breed...

I have since used a pen to mark the right spot...
