yes you did right.If it helps mix a little chicken in with his regular puppy food fo a while to entice him to eat and so eventually there is no chicken.
Chicken is good for them but he needs other vitamins also , thats why when dogs get sick you feed chicken and rice and they should always eat that. Hope this helps.
