I had to make that same decision exactly 1 year ago with my chihuahua, Stimpy. I loved him so much. He let me know. He looked just like Gidget, the Taco Bell dog, that just passed away. I hope he is chasing her around in doggy heaven. I took him to my son's work for him to say goodbye to him.I let him eat a taco bell taco before I took him to the vet. He hadn't eaten in 2 days, but he ate that! It's better to know than a surprise, I think.
The good thing is that I got Gunnar a few months later.
