I'm so glad your Sophie didn't get a second shot. It's very unusual for them to have a reaction to the first lepto vaccination. Their body has to be exposed to the vaccine first to develop the antibodies that trigger the allergic reaction. It's usually the second or even third shot that causes the reaction. That's what makes it so scary. Owners can mistakenly think their Yorkie has no problem with lepto, only to have a serious reaction to a booster later on.
Rachel, it's always a good idea to plan to wait at your vet's office for about a half hour after the vaccinations to make sure there is no allergic reaction.
