We have a 2 yrs old Male Yorkie that started to drool badly on right side of mouth and acting lethargic. We took him to the Vet's, they did a blood test and found his liver enzimes very high 388. Told us to put him on a Hills k/d diet or feed him boiled rice with chicken & brocolli. We started the diet , with a complete change to 95% better .Told us to get an ultrasound done.
They found his liver small and light in color. They sent us back to the Vet's for another test where we couldn't feed him for 8hrs, they tested his enzimes they were 90 ,feed him and tested enzimes they were 408. Sent us to a surgeon thta wants to do an exploratory surgery find the shunt , put a ring around the shunt. We want to know if anyone has had this surgery done on their Yorkie and how did they do. Is it a necessary surgery or will diet change take care of problem? We are afriad to do the surgery since it's exploratory & they will cut his whole chest area. but we don't want to do delay the surgery, if waiting will harm him more. Please advise Bob & Deb
