 Good or Bad: Walking
I recently ran into an older lady that I know in "Feeders Supply" (local pet store) and we were talking and I mentioned "that sometimes Maxwell and I walk a long time, like 3+ hours." She said, "oh that is too long you shouldn't do that~!" Walking to me isn't a constant pace since he has to sniff, smell, meet other doggies along the way, etc. I know these dogs aren't big dogs, (tho they think they are) but does it really matter how long one walks a Yorkshire Terrier~? Maxwell is the boss usually when we walk and we walk where he wants and when he's ready to go back, he knows where and how to get back home. He's a smart dog in so many ways. I know smaller dogs don't need that much excerise, but I am over doing it if he wants to walk an hour, two or even three hours~? |
