My opinion only:
Both milbemycin oxime (Interceptor and Sentinel) and ivermectin (Heartgard and a couple others) are just fine for heartworms. I prefer Interceptor, however, more milbemycin oxime than necessary to control heartworms is used in a dose of Interceptor so that intestinal parasites are treated. So the dosing is still waaaay higher than needed and the weight breakdown doesn't mean much to me. If you don't want to treat for intestinal parasites, you are still overdosing with Interceptor. The safeheart dose (not available in the US) is about 1/5 of the dose we use here, I think.
I do not like Revolution. The side effect rate is a concern and the number of dogs getting heartworms while on it is questionable at best. I would never trust it for heartworms.
For fleas Frontline Plus and Advantage are okay if you have to use something.
