I'm so glad I read this. One of my rescues, Zeus, always tears up garbage or any type of paper that's left out when no ones @ home or when no ones paying attention to him. I usually crate him but try to leave him out when I know I'll only be gone for about an hour. This really helped to explain his behavior to me. Thanks for posting it!
