Most good silk coated yorkies do not obtain full coat until 2 years of age. Even then there are other contributing factors: Is your yorkie allowed to sleep with you, allowed on the furniture, allowed to run in the grass, allowed on carpet, walking concrete. Each yorkie is different. Genetics, lines they come from.

Show dogs are allowed to do many of these things, but their coats are cultivated, by being bathed every 4 days, kept in wraps, only allowed to sleep on satin.
