I had Bailey lie down first, then I would take the treat and slowly take it toward his back behind his head so he would have to go on his side to follow the treat, as he went on his side I would say "bang bang" and then give him the treat, it was easier then I thought it would be. Also if you search "how to teach a dog tricks" on Youtube there are helpful videos there too Good luck!
