its an instinct to lick a wound or anything that hurts them. My little boy last week got his paw stuck in the fence playing with the big dog in the other yard and he got 3 stitches and his paw its all wrapped in gauze and tape. And he keeps trying to lick it and bite the tape off. i bought a dog socks at petco and put that over it but he is still obsessed with getting to it. there is not much you can do but wrap his paw in gauze and tape for he cant get to his wound. or whatever is wrong. if its real bad you might have to put a cone over his head. hope your little one gets better soon
