I guess I don't have this problem. My Yorkie is 7.1 lbs. Although he isn't allowed on furniture except once in a while when I pick him up to sleep on my lap. He is not allowed to jump on the bed or couch himself, so he doesn't really jump down. This might work for your dog too.
