I sometimes still see the stitch in the tail at 5 weeks and it seems to come right out if you pull on it.... one time I did ask the vet at the 6 week checkup to take any remaining "thread" out of their tails.
I usually start the wet food at 4 weeks (real wet) so they learn how to lap food. By 5 weeks they are eating the soaked dry food... and seem to be munching on the dry... by 6 weeks they are totally weaned from mom.
