I used to live in San Antonio (TX) and there was the University Health System that had it's own "insurance" type deal (Carelink), pay via sliding scale according to what you can afford. I see Mickey mentions one similar in Houston.

Is there anything like that in TN? University System in San Antonio had it's own doctors too that went by the same sliding scale. I just looked on the website and it says you have to be a resident of that county to access it though.

I feel for you so much. I wish I could offer magic words, but the above advise is all I have. I hope TN has something similar.
