Yes! Get everyone in the house in the habit of doing this.
And, if you're not in the habit already, be sure you that he pees before you play with him. Also, when you reach out to pet him, be sure that you are not hovering over him too much - what he's doing
may be submissive peeing. Get more down on his level when you pet him and see if that helps.
