Worried she's getting fat MY Madison is 14 mos old. She gets about 1/3 cup of dry food ( evo small bites) and about 2 tbs wet evo canned total each day divided into breakfast and dinner. With 2 or 3 small bite size pieces of chicken jerky as treats. My Maltese Lexie gets the same thing. Although lexie doesn't always eat it all and sometimes (not always) madison will finish it.
Lexie is thin 5 lbs can feel ribs. Madison is 'thick' solid and weighs at least a lb more. I guess I need to take her to a scale to find out her weight.
I worry she's getting fat or is overweight already. She runs for an hour to 90 mins a day m-f as we have doggie playdate. plus we go for one 30 min walk daily. So she gets lots of exercise.
She would eat more if I gave her more but I'm obviously not starving her.
The other yorkies we play with are smaller. and Yet I've seen bigger yorkies.
So how do I know if she's ok, or needs to lose weight? I don't want stress on knees or any other problems that come with overweight dogs.
any insight will be appreciated. We won't go to the vet for her yearly shots and check up until Nov. |
