How old is your girl? If she is an older girl, you may want to consider getting an adult vs. a puppy. Older dogs need more rest and relaxation and puppies can really get on their nerves. On the other hand, many people have reported that bringing a puppy into a home with an older dog has given the older dog a new lease on life. So, you need to decide whether she would be best with a puppy or an adult.
You don't have to worry about jealousy. My boy was an only child for two years before I got June and he loves her to death. Still doesn't really like to share mommy, but he is used to it now.
