There is a clicker training video on Karen Pryors website that shows how to train a dog to let you trim his toenails, but it will take more than a few minutes to train, you might have to spend 1/2 a day or so, but will be worth it!
when I took my dog to Barking Bubbles, the lady trimed mydogs toenails,(which I let grow too long as I am not good at doing it) She used one of those Pedi Paws type of nail grinder, only a more professional one, she uses it on all kinds of dogs. She put her arm around my dogs body and held a paw in her hand and just went too it. My dog was not happy about it, but did not try to bite, but did act concerned about what was going on. she did wiggle a bit.
She took less than 6 minutes to do all of Abby's toes!!!
You can take the regular kind and just take a bit off of each toe and wait a week and do it again. Let your dog smell the nail trimmer and then give him a treat. Make it seem fun, but matter of fact and no biting or lots of wiggleing.
Good luck
Good luck!
