My Chloe also rings a bell to go outside. I strung three miniature cow bells on a ribbon and hung them on the door knob. The first three or fourth times I rang the bells and said, "Let's go outside!" in a excited voice as we headed out. After that I would point to the bells while saying it and would tell her to ring the bells. She caught on quickly and now drives me nuts with the bells because she LOVES going outside.

Just a word of caution though... One site that I read while researching this method noted that jingle bells of any size should NOT be used because the puppy could get its toenail caught in the bell and possibly pull it out.

With this setup, you can easily take the bells with you when you travel or just make a second set to keep in a travel bag so you don't forget it.

Good luck! This is a really neat way for your baby to let you know when he/she wants to go out.
