My experience is the thinner hair as a puppy is just a stage that eventually turns to the gorgeous silky coats we all want. The fluffier puppy coats that are thick and full, often times wind up being those cottony coats that although still pretty and cuddly, are not standard and can cause a lot of grooming frustration. But there are exceptions to every "rule."

Don't worry! Puppies can change so very much. Yours is only 14 weeks old and has LOTS of time to change in dozens of ways. But there is also a LOT of variation between purebred Yorkies. Just look through the adult pictures here on Yorkie Talk! We have all sorts, shapes, sizes, and color variations.

I would always trust the breeder unless they have given reason not to. I would guess you have a purebred puppy. You might wind up with a Yorkie that would get docked a few points on confirmation, but regardless he is absolutely adorable! It is funny that some of the things they would dock points for -- short legs/body not square -- are traits I find adorable. A lot of people prefer that "look." So, as long as you are not putting him in a show ring, or breeding, then I would think he is just perfect!
