I've experienced this too. I was out at the dog park with Stella and a lady with a HUGE lab stops and says hi to Stella, who was going nuts, and she asks how old she is, and when I told her 5 months, she said "oh, she's BIG!" and I was kind of thinking...isn't she still about 1/20th the weight of your lab!? I'm sorry, but 5 lbs is NOT a big dog...and I'm pretty sure anything under 10, and probably even 15 depending on build, can still qualify as a "very small" dog.
