You can use any type of bell. You can get them any size at any department store. I got mine at Wal-Mart in the craft section. I took a cord, attached the bell and put it by a hook by the side of the door. I didn't want it actually hanging on the door, sometimes it stays open during the hot weather. I also got the bell door hanger thing that they have out at Christmas time..it has 3 large bells on it. You can use almost anything you can imagine to hang bells on.....
I started ringing it every time we went outside...and use my "word". Then after a few times...showed them how to ring it with the paw...Chloe' acutally uses her nose.
I love it!! Chloe' uses it everytime....Myah doesn't. She just waits till Chloe' goes out and goes with her. I don't think she likes the bells.....
