All of mine will roll in "dog perfume"...the smellier....the better. In the wild dogs try to hide their own scent....so they could sneak up on prey undected.
As far as stopping it....I try to find the poop or dead animal first. It's a natural behavior for them and I wouldn't punish them for something that is instinctive.
