In people as well as kidney failure a lot of extra protein can cause high BUN's. I do not know if it is the same in dogs but maybe he is getting too much protein. If he is dehydrated that will cause and increased BUN in people too. We feed Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. The dogs love it. I hope that helps I am in the renal field for people ; )
