I think most people that at first want to breed have a very romantic notion that it is a piece of cake, makes $$$, and you can have your wonderful dogs pay for themselves. All it takes is two dogs mating (no big deal), puppies pop out, mom cleans up after them and at 6/7 weeks you sell them for about $1000 and you recoup your investment in mom and your stud/or fee's and you make extra $$$ on the side. What could be easier. I wish everyone would ask first time potential breeders the question WHY first.

We have plenty of dogs born in this country everyday, we have plenty of dogs given to rescue or animal control on a daily basis and we have plenty of dogs dying due to overpopulation so in my opinion people really need to be committed on why they are breeding. I belong to a breed club so I am not opposed to breeding but it must be for strong reasons.
