not true - my dog only had hairloss and all they need is one symptom to have hypothyroid per jean dodds who is the expert on hypothyroid. Before doing any biopsy have the 6 panel thyroid done through michigan state or jean dodds as it could very well be - the vet refused to do the test on dd and i drove to jean dodds and her t4free went from .78 to .30 in a year so glad i pursued it after vet told me no or she could have got worse so ALWAYS with skin issues get the thyroid checked and it has to be the 6 panel not just the T4 - hypothyroid runs in this breed and dd was only 3 when she was diagnosed with it
