Where as the law does treat animals as property there is also gross negligence involved in which additional compensation can be awarded. I would take the SOB to court. How in the world could he leave a small dog in the same cage with a big dog. I would speak to an attorney. I live in NJ and was a paralegal for many years. It's a shame but animals are treated as property however like I said there is gross negligence involved and additonal compensation should be awarded for the negligence. This was not an accident it was his gross negligence that caused the death. Plain and simple. Elaine
