Daisy Back in May we had to board our yorkie Daisy at a kennel here on Long Island while were out of town for a few days. We have used the kennel for our cocker spaniels for 7 years and felt we knew the owner pretty well. While we were away Daisy was put with another large dog and was mauled to death. It was such a tragedy and although we had her cremated I have yet to bury her as we had planned. The kennel was not only careless but when a local newstation went with questions they denied it even happened. The owner was the one who had admitted to us that he had made a big mistake. He then told my husband that he would reimburse the cost of dog as well as the cremation (how very big of him). We couldn't even think about it at that time but now 2 months later we are still waiting. His attorney wants to offer us 1/4 of what we paid for her as she is "property" and apparently after loving and taking care of our pets (in this case for three years) they depreciate. It is not even a question of the money it is the fact that they were careless and even lied about when it happened. They also didn't even call to tell us - it was only when we showed up to pick the dogs up that they told us AFTER charging us boarding and grooming for all of the dogs!! Our whole family is devastated and I feel that they have to be held accountable in some way and would appreciate any and all suggestions. |
