It all has to do with their structure and the body condition scale.
However, obese or not, I would never recommend feeding a Yorkie just once a day. Twenty-four hours is much too long between feedings and, in my opinion, it is not a good idea at all. You can feed the amount that the vet wants you to but split it between two or three meals daily instead...
